All of the recent media awareness campaigns have parents asking what works for autism.
There is currently no cure for autism. But some drugs may help reduce specific behaviours associated with autistic disorder.
Antipsychotics (Risperdal, Zyprexa, etc) reduce symptoms of irritability...tantrums, aggression, mood swings, and self-injury. Risperdal will be used more than the others...it's the first one approved for this use in the U.S.
