New HIV protease inhibitors might increase blood sugar
The FDA and HPB are now warning that the new HIV protease inhibitors might increase blood sugar...leading to new or worsening diabetes.
This new warning will be added to the product monographs for all three protease inhibitors...Invirase (saquinavir)...Crixivan (indinavir)...and Norvir (ritonavir)...and Viracept (nelfinavir).
This usually doesn't show up until 2 months after starting the protease inhibitor...but it can occur in just a few days.
