Oral prednisone is as effective as IV methylprednisolone for treating acute asthma in hospitalized kids.

It's usually assumed that IV steroid therapy is needed for kids sick enough to be in the hospital...but this may not be the case.

IV methylprednisolone may have a faster onset in the first few hours...but after that, there's no difference in effect between equally potent doses of methylprednisolone and oral prednisone.
