New research suggests that taking single-dose fluconazole during early pregnancy ISN'T likely to cause birth defects.

Physicians try not to give fluconazole (Diflucan) during pregnancy...due to several reports of birth defects.

But these problems seem to occur in women taking continuous, large doses...not single-dose therapy for vaginal yeast infections.
