now urging physicians to avoid treating hypertension with alpha blockers
Cardiology societies are now urging physicians to avoid treating hypertension with alpha blockers...Cardura (doxazosin)...Hytrin (terazosin)...or Minipress (prazosin).
The American College of Cardiology just made this announcement...the current Canadian Hypertension Guidelines already say not to use alpha blockers as first-line therapy.
The Canadian guidelines suggest alpha blockers only when the combination of a diuretic/beta blocker or a diuretic/ACE inhibitor fails.
