The American Academy of Pediatrics is now urging that the varicella vaccine (Varivax) be used as post-exposure prophylaxis.
This is for kids who haven't been vaccinated and then become exposed to chickenpox.
Vaccinating these children AFTER EXPOSURE can prevent or attenuate the infection.
