The Osteoporosis Society of Canada just released new guidelines for preventing and treating osteoporosis.
Bisphosphonates (alendronate, etc) are first-choice drugs for postmenopausal women with low bone mineral density...and for existing osteoporosis in both men and women.
Raloxifene (Evista) is also a first-choice drug for prevention and for treatment of existing osteoporosis in women.
