ibuprofen reduces the effectiveness of ASA

Patients are hearing that ibuprofen reduces the effectiveness of ASA...and increases the risk of heart attack and stroke.

This stems from a new study that suggests people who take their daily low-dose ASA with ibuprofen have almost DOUBLE the risk of dying from cardiovascular disease.

Both ASA and ibuprofen bind COX-1 to inhibit platelet aggregation. The theory is that if ibuprofen binds COX-1 first, it will block ASA's antiplatelet effects.
