Many patients aren't aware when their metered-dose inhalers are empty.

In one study, almost 75% of patients continued to use their MDI until there was no sound when actuated.

This can be dangerous. For example, the older Ventolin inhalers contained enough drug for 80 actuations...but they could actually put out up to 170 actuations.
