ThyroSafe, a tablet form of potassium iodide

Some pharmacies are now stocking ThyroSafe, a tablet form of potassium iodide.

ThyroSafe is used to protect the thyroid after nuclear exposure...due to an attack on a nuclear power plant or radioactive explosives.

In these catastrophes, radioactive iodine is released...and absorbed by the thyroid gland. This can cause hypothyroidism or thyroid cancer years later.
