Health Canada is warning of possible increased risk of fetal oral clefts with lamotrigine (Lamictal) use during the first trimester.

This data comes from North American pregnancy registries... and experts are now assessing pregnancy registries around the world.

So far there's no clear proof of an overall increased risk of MAJOR malformations.
