STOPPING all NSAIDs (ibuprofen, naproxen, etc) except aspirin in heart attack patients

The American Heart Assoc now recommends STOPPING all NSAIDs (ibuprofen, naproxen, etc) except aspirin in heart attack patients.

"NSAIDs" are widely used anti-inflammatory pain meds like ibuprofen, naproxen, Lodine (etodolac), Voltaren (diclofenac), Celebrex (celecoxib), Mobic (meloxicam), and others.

Patients who take NSAIDs within a week before a heart attack seem to have a higher risk of another heart attack or death.
