If you prepare IVs, you'll soon see a new IV antibiotic for methicillin-resistant Staph aureus (MRSA), Vibativ (vy-BA-tiv).
It's related to vancomycin...and has many of vanco's drawbacks.
Vibativ (telavancin) will usually be saved for infections resistant to vancomycin...or as an alternative to vanco like Zyvox (linezolid), Cubicin (daptomycin), and Tygacil (tigecycline).
