Pharmacy techs can help prevent harm from "vesicants" (doxorubicin, vincristine, etc) and other irritating IV medications.

Vesicants are injectable drugs that are toxic to tissue when they "extravasate"...or accidentally leak out of an IV line.

When this happens, patients can have pain, burning, and redness along the vein...followed by blistering, swelling, and tissue death.
