Techs will continue to be challenged by Rxs for "cephalosporin" antibiotics

Techs will continue to be challenged by Rxs for "cephalosporin" antibiotics...cephalexin, cefepime, ceftriaxone, etc.

Look out for common errors when dispensing these medications.

Sound-alike/look-alike names. Watch for mix-ups with similar drug names...since most cephalosporin generic names start with "cef." Cefadroxil can be mistaken for cefazolin...cefotaxime for ceftazidime...cefuroxime for cefixime...or cefaclor for cefprozil.
