Technicians will be challenged to keep glaucoma meds straight

Technicians will be challenged to keep glaucoma meds straight...with so many options and combo products available.

Prostaglandins (latanoprost, Lumigan RC, etc) are often used first. They're the most effective and usually dosed once daily.

Store latanoprost (Xalatan, etc) and latanoprost/timolol (Xalacom, etc) in the fridge BEFORE dispensing. Use labelling to alert patients to special storage requirements once the drops are in use. Latanoprost can be stored up to six weeks at room temp...and latanoprost/timolol can be kept up to ten weeks at room temp.
