new option for treating uterine fibroids called Fibristal (fye-BRISS-tal, ulipristal)

Women will have a new option for treating uterine fibroids called Fibristal (fye-BRISS-tal, ulipristal).

Almost one-third of women of childbearing age in Canada have uterine fibroids. Many require treatment or surgery to reduce excessive uterine bleeding, pelvic pain, infertility, etc.

Think of Fibristal as an alternative to leuprolide (Lupron Depot). It costs about the same...and works at least as well to control uterine bleeding from fibroids.
