Send Patients Picking up Phenylephrine-Containing Products to the Pharmacist

We're getting questions about whether oral phenylephrine-containing products (Vicks DayQuil, etc) work for congestion.

Oral phenylephrine doesn't really relieve a "stuffy nose"...likely because it isn't absorbed well into the bloodstream.

But patients often reach for phenylephrine because it's an easily accessible OTC. It doesn't require the extra steps of getting it from behind the counter...like pseudoephedrine-only products.
