Natesto is applied inside the NOSE...instead of on the skin. The idea is to help reduce skin-to-skin transfer...since it uses an applicator that doesn't require touching the gel with fingers and other people aren't likely to come in contact with the application site.

But this benefit comes with a downside. Patients will need to apply the gel two to three times daily...instead of once daily like Testim and Androgel. That's because the inside of the nose absorbs the drug much faster than the skin...so patients need to apply it more often.
