Questions will swirl about Shingrix, the new zoster vaccine to prevent shingles...especially now that it's preferred over Zostavax II.

Who should get Shingrix? It's for patients 50 years and older. Shingrix seems to prevent shingles better than Zostavax II...and immunity may last longer.

Make sure patient profiles are current with med lists and medical conditions. For example, it's okay for patients who are on less than prednisone 20 mg/day for a week or two to get Shingrix...but it may not be okay for those who take higher prednisone doses chronically.
