Think of Emgality as Similar to Aimovig for Migraine Prophylaxis

Emgality (em-GAL-ih-tee, galcanezumab) will join Aimovig (erenumab) to PREVENT migraine in adults.

These injectable biologics decrease migraines by blocking calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP). They'll usually be considered when oral meds...such as propranolol or topiramate...aren't enough.

Watch for payer messaging with these "CGRP antagonists." They're likely to require prior auths and may be considered specialty meds...partly due to their hefty price tags. Emgality costs about $8,100/year and Aimovig costs about $6,900/year.
