Listen for Patients Reporting Eye Problems With Diuretics

Health Canada is warning about the risk of eye disorders with certain diuretics (chlorthalidone, hydrochlorothiazide, etc).

Labelling for most sulfonamide diuretics will now have warnings about eye issues...such as fluid accumulation, sudden nearsightedness, and increased eye pressure.

But don't expect most patients on these diuretics to change therapy. These warnings are based on case reports...and are extremely rare.
