Clascoterone 1% cream will be the first topical to treat acne by blocking androgen receptors on the skin. Blocking androgen hormones may help reduce oil production and inflammation that cause acne or make it worse.

But there’s limited evidence that twice-daily clascoterone is more effective than other topical or oral acne meds...and it costs about $250/month.
