Buprenorphine inj (Sublocade) is easier to give, now that it can be started by “rapid induction” and administered SC at new injection sites.

Sublocade is a monthly subcutaneous depot injection for opioid use disorder (OUD). It’s an option for patients who have issues with adherence, abuse, or diversion with other forms (BuTrans, etc).

But starting Sublocade was cumbersome for patients new to buprenorphine, since it required stabilizing on sublingual buprenorphine/naloxone for at least 7 days prior to starting.
