A new “optimized” formulation of oral semaglutide (Rybelsus) may cause confusion.

Patients will be transitioned to a new formulation of the GLP-1 agonist, Rybelsus, that has improved absorption.

The two formulations are bioequivalent...but not on a mg-per-mg basis. For example, patients taking a Rybelsus maintenance dose of 7 mg/day will take 4 mg/day of the new formulation.
