The National Cancer Institute is now alerting oncologists to limit tamoxifen use to 5 years...for certain women being treated for early-stage breast cancer.
Taking tamoxifen for 5 years after lumpectomy or mastectomy significantly reduces the risk of recurrence and improves survival.
New evidence says that LONGER use doesn't further improve survival. It might even be detrimental...by increasing uterine cancer.
