Copaxone (glatiramer acetate) for multiple sclerosis

    Patients can now try Copaxone (glatiramer acetate) for multiple sclerosis. It's the second MS drug on the market...after Betaseron.

    Copaxone is also called copolymer-1 or "cop-1."

    It's a polypeptide mixture that resembles a component of myelin. It seems to block the immune reaction against myelin that leads to nerve damage.
