There's a lot of interest in using amiodarone (Cordarone IV) to help resuscitate cardiac arrest victims.
It's now being used by some paramedics...as an alternative to lidocaine or other antiarrhythmics.
They give 300 mg of amiodarone IV when there is no initial response to defibrillation. It's given right after a dose of epinephrine...and then resuscitation continues.
