Roche will soon market their new obesity drug, Xenical (orlistat). It's being introduced now in the U.S...later in Canada.
It's the first diet drug that works in the gut...instead of in the brain to suppress appetite.
Xenical is a lipase inhibitor. Blocking this enzyme in the GI tract reduces the absorption of fat by about 30%.
