Rogaine (minoxidil 2%) will now be available without a prescription...for common hereditary hair loss.

It will be marketed OTC by McNeil Consumer Products (Tylenol, Motrin). They've picked up the product from Pharmacia & Upjohn.

Rogaine is currently approved only for men...but look for an OTC version for women in about a year.
