There's a lot of excitement about the new ONCE-DAILY antiretroviral drug called Viread (VEER-ee-ad)...from Gilead Sciences.

It's the first HIV drug approved in the U.S. this year...an expanded access programme is being put together for Canada.

Viread (tenofovir) is the first nucleoTIDE reverse transcriptase inhibitor. It's similar in structure to the nucleoSIDE reverse transcriptase inhibitors...but might be more active.
