Macugen is the latest treatment now approved in Canada to treat macular degeneration.
Macular degeneration is a main cause of blindness in the elderly. The "wet" form is less common than the "dry" form...but it's more severe. Treatments are only available for the wet form.
Macugen (pegaptanib) stops the formation of new and leaky blood vessels in the macula.
