  Experts sometimes disagree about whether it's best to use levalbuterol (Xopenex) or albuterol.

  Albuterol products are actually made up of two types of ingredients called isomers. Xopenex only contains the active part of the albuterol solution, the "R-isomer."

  Xopenex is often promoted as being better than albuterol... and there's less difference in cost now than there used to be since generic albuterol inhalers are being phased out.
