Carisoprodol (Soma, etc) will finally be a Schedule IV controlled substance in ALL states...starting Jan 11, 2012.
It's already a C-IV med in some states...now it will be controlled at the federal level.
Carisoprodol is metabolized to meprobamate...a controlled substance that has sedative effects similar to barbiturates and alcohol.
