You'll see a new Rx topical product for cold sores called Xerese (zuh-REES).
Xerese is topical acyclovir (Zovirax) plus hydrocortisone, which helps reduce inflammation and shorten the infection time.
Xerese reduces the duration of a cold sore by about one and a half days, compared to about a day with Zovirax.
