You may see Rxs with directions to SWALLOW inhaled corticosteroids (Flovent HFA, etc).

Don't assume this is a typo. Patients may swallow inhaled steroids for a chronic allergic condition called eosinophilic esophagitis.

These meds have a "local" effect on the esophagus...reducing inflammation while minimizing "whole-body" effects.
