It joins norethindrone (Jencycla, etc) as the only other “minipill” that contains just a progestin hormone.

These progestin-only pills are an option when estrogen combo OCs (Yaz, etc) should be avoided...such as in patients who are breastfeeding, have a history of clots, or have migraine with aura.

Slynd might have an advantage over norethindrone OCs. Limited evidence suggests that Slynd is effective when a dose is taken up to 24 hours late...but norethindrone may only be taken up to 3 hours late.
