There’s still debate about how to limit GI bleeding risk in patients taking blood thinners (aspirin, apixaban, warfarin, etc).
These meds increase GI bleeding risk...especially if more than 1 is needed, such as for patients with atrial fib plus a recent coronary stent. But PPIs (omeprazole, etc) also have risks (C. diff, etc).
In general, patients will need gastroprotection if they’re on a blood thinner with a prior GI bleed...if they also need a chronic steroid or NSAID...or if 2 or more blood thinners are necessary.Practical advice for a better career, with unlimited access to CE
