Xalatan (latanoprost) just got approved for the INITIAL treatment of glaucoma in the U.S.
For years, topical beta-blockers (timolol, etc) were preferred. But respiratory problems and bradycardia are a concern.
Xalatan works at least as well as timolol...and has fewer systemic effects.
