Calcium products are often used to prevent bone loss, as antacids, or as part of a multivitamin and mineral supplement.
Calcium carbonate (Caltrate, Tums, etc) is a good choice for most patients. It can be used to replace calcium...or as a short-acting antacid. It's inexpensive and provides the most elemental calcium by weight.
