Experts have always thought that people who are allergic to sulfonamides (sulfamethoxazole, etc) would also be allergic to drugs that contain a "sulfa" group in their chemical structure, such as Celebrex.
But new studies are showing that "cross-sensitivity" may not be as big a problem as previously thought...and varies based on the drug's chemical structure.
