Steer Patients Concerned About Talc to the Pharmacist

Health Canada is evaluating the safety of talc...found in baby powders, foot and body powders, cosmetics, etc.

There's concern that inhaling talc while applying loose powders may be linked to lung issues, such as scarring or decreased lung function...since the fine particles may be hard to clear from lungs.

Health Canada is also reviewing a possible link to ovarian cancer from talc products applied to the female genital area...such as products used to promote dryness or prevent chafing (Shower to Shower, etc).
