Glaxo will soon market lamivudine for chronic hepatitis B. It'll be called Epivir-HBV in the U.S...Heptavir in Canada.

Lamivudine is the same antiviral that's in 3TC for HIV. Lamivudine also suppresses the growth of the hepatitis B virus.

The difference between using lamivudine for HIV and hepatitis B is the dose.
