A landmark British study now shows that intensive treatment of type 2 diabetes reduces complications...eye disease, kidney disease, heart attack, and stroke.

We already knew that tight glycemic control reduces complications from TYPE 1 diabetes...but we weren't sure about TYPE 2s.

In fact, there was some concern that sulfonylureas and insulin might INCREASE the risk of heart disease in type 2s. Now there's good news from the large UK Prospective Diabetes Study (UKPDS). It's the big talk among diabetes specialists.
